GOTV: Get Out The Vote. I’m here for that specific purpose writing to you now. If you are a registered voter in the US, this is my little something extra to encourage you and all the registered voters in your lives to get to the polls and vote.
The US 2024 General Elections are on Tuesday, November 5th. It’s not a holiday. Most folks need to go to work and somehow make time to go to the polls, unless they use the option to vote early or by mail. Every state has its own protocol for handling voter registration, absentee ballots and in-person voting. Below are some resources for making sure that you and yours have all the information you need:
Vote.org offers links to guidelines and details for voting in every state. You can even check your registration.
If you are an overseas voter and have questions about your ballot and sending it in, check VoteFromAbroad.org
“Bolts covers the nuts and bolts of power and political change, from the local up… We focus on two areas where local governments play a key role: criminal justice and policing, and voting rights and democracy.”
Here’s their cheat sheet for voting in races up and down ballots across the country that are of particular consequence regarding voting rights and criminal justice.
Additionally, I want to put this unique informational resource in your path:
Stop Project 2025
Stop Project 2025 is collaborative effort involving over 40 comic artists responding to Project 2025’s policy proposals regarding climate, immigration, health care, education, and taxation, among others. Of course, there’s always more, more, more to consider and share. But I really just want to fire you up, if you’re a registered voter in the US to
please make use of your right to vote.
Talk to your people and encourage them to vote.
Vote early if you can.
If you are willing and able, get involved with GOTV actions.
I promised myself to keep this one short and to the point. We know what to do.
Remember to breathe.
Be well,
